Thatch houses do not usually have guttering due to the large over hang on the roof and the difficulties in installing a guttering system they usually rely on a French drain type system at the base of the wall to disperse the water, this system can lead to damp problems and even rotting of wall timbers. There is an alternative we recently completed a installation of 6" half round cast aluminium guttering on a thatch house in Norfolk. We had bespoke steel brackets designed and made at our local forge to fix the guttering to the wall.
